Elvehjem Elementary to hold second annual Art Night event

Elvehjem Elementary PTO members are holding their second annual Art Extravaganza on May 1st from 6-8pm at the school. "We are so excited about this event" said Kelli Betsinger, co-President of the LVM PTO. "The night will bring together the parents and students of LVM, the local artist communty and the people of Madison."

This year Elvehjem Elementary has focused fundraising efforts around family-friendly events instead of typical catalog fundraising. As a result, the school has become a central focus in the surrounding neighborhoods and given everyone a sense of community.  read more »

The Elvehjem Playground Project Committee fell short of its hopes for the grand prize in a Playskool "Win a Boundless Playground" Essay Contest but did nab a third-place prize from more than 900 entries. Committee members are keeping to hopes alive with new efforts.  read more »

Dorn Out, Ace In On East Side

Within a month, Dorn True Value will close its Cottage Grove Road store. But by next spring Ace Hardware expects to open at the location.

Tom Dorn, who with his brother Matt Dorn owns and operates Dorn neighborhood True Value stores, said his company was unable to justify the economics of running the smaller store at a lower-traffic location. The family-run hardware and sporting goods business expects to keep its other five Madison-area Dorn Hardware stores open.  read more »
